Conscious living and the middle class

Conscious living, is living with more awareness of yourself and your surroundings, waking up to the joy and positive significance of each other.

“Conscious living is a relatively new expression that has recently become a popular buzz word and trend, promoted through media and magazines. Its interesting that the phrase clearly to implies some sort of ‘deeper awareness’ of ones life, and what impact we are all having on each other and the environment. Many approach this topic from different perspectives, and thus, have varying opinions on what is actually implied by ‘Living Consciously’.”

There are lots of pages connected to this, who often make money from it as well selling all kinds of Affirmation cd’s and e-books about “wisdom”, finding your joy and 2012.
In capitalism you gotta turn everything into a money making game, that is the only way to survive…right?

Living with more awareness, is something I promote – but not when it is done wearing a blindfold.
Living with awareness means seeing what happens around you, and being self-honest about what goes on inside you, and direct this to honor yourself and this world. We require to become honest with ourselves, and stop the bullshit that creates so much stress, inequality and separation between our “selves” and others.

Conscious LIVING, requires action! It is not enough to only empathize, or “feel for”, or realize the problems going on in this world. It requires that we stand up, change, and stand by each other to create a world where all can live and not just survive.  If you are not seeing the starvation, the animal abuse and slave labor for your products, the racism and programming… and if you are not standing up to create a way to stop this, realizing that the very system that grants you the ability and money to participate in this “conscious living”… Than you are not consciously living at all. Then you are merely the product of capitalism, that gives these great opportunities of so called expansion to the lucky few.  Because no matter how you turn it, you are in this game. The system keeps creating inequality and abuse. You are simply on the positive side of it. The very system that grants you the money to buy cd or books, the very system you participate in, work in and thus support – creates starvation and abuse for millions of others. To connect the dots, you will have to educate yourself. Slowly but surely, the pieces will fall into place.

Conscious living become a selfish game, when you only care about what makes you feel good. This is the product of a world where only competition and self-interest counts. It gives the middle classes illusions of “something more”, which is always right around the corner! It is similar to Christians looking out to go to heaven, to a place better than here, just around the corner. It was used in the middle ages to keep the population calm because: they would be rewarded after death.

Conscious living may go hand in hand with believes such as a new planet in 2012. Guess what, a new planet or system will not come unless we create it. We have all the tools to turn earth into a heaven for all, why don’t we ?
We are fed lies to keep competing and defending the status quo. We already see how we are shaped by our upbringings and education, how we CAN change! We have even proven it to ourselves but still we keep on ranting out quotes like:

“it is human nature”
“competition is needed to make people do something”
“it is normal, everyone does it, it is always been like that”

It’s fed to you because when we accept it, we carry it along. And people are likely to follow the group. See what I mean? When equality and self-direction become the group norm, more and more people will start to consider it and educate themselves, gain more insight and take their blindfolds off. Then the norm becomes to think, using our brains and working together.

What we can all do is educate ourselves. We can also share the way this system works, and how we can change it. Writing or speaking about this is something we all can do.
